Different types of random events can occur in
Dissent on Mars. In this post, we're going to talk about random events that may require some detective work to address.
Detective EventsI tried designing a randomly generated detective game many years ago and was never happy with it. I'm glad I was finally able to scratch that itch with some of the events in this game! Here are some you can expect to see:
Missing Colonist – If a colonist is missing, you'll need to find them, which is easier said than done. If you can track down their house, you may find clues that give hints to their location.
Sickness – Sometimes a product defect will cause colonists to get sick. You'll need to deduce which one is causing their sickness and recall it at a government building.
Theft – Theft may occur in the colony, and if it does, you'll need to deduce who the thief is and charge them. You'll also need to figure out their motive for stealing. For example, the thief could have an economic motive, or they could be a kleptomaniac!
Work Stoppage – If the colony has a work stoppage, you'll need to deduce which workplace is experiencing the stoppage and send someone to work there.
ConclusionHopefully, this gives you an idea of how random events work. There are even more I haven't covered, so hopefully they're a nice surprise when you experience them in the game!
Wishlist and Follow Dissent on MarsIf you haven't yet, please
wishlist and follow the game so you can stay connected! It would be great if you could tell your friends about it too.
