Hey everyone! My name is Michael, and I'm the designer, programmer, and musician for Dissent on Mars.
What are some basic things we should know about you (age, country, job, etc.)?I'm 30, so I'm a 90s child. I live in Illinois, and I've been working in the video game industry for over a decade now.
What types of games do you like?I feel like there are different periods of my life where I've been into different types of games.
The Nintendo 64 was the first console I fell in love with, and I have fond memories of playing Star Fox 64, Jet Force Gemini, Banjo Kazooie, and all of the other Rare games.
Later I played SimCity 3000 and The Sims (the Gamecube version), and they left an impression on me. I was also a big fan of The Movies (super underrated game!) and was active in the online community.
Eventually, I got an Xbox and fell in love with KOTOR, and several other RPGs that came out at the time. As a teenager, I spent hundreds of hours playing Oblivion, and (warning: controversial opinion) I enjoyed it more than Skyrim!
In my college years, I started getting into puzzle games and experimental games. The Witness and The Talos Principle are two of my favorite games of all time.
I don't play a lot of games these days, but I'm super stoked for The Talos Principle II!
What are your hobbies (besides video games)?I play guitar, piano, and trumpet. In my spare time, I've been trying to get better at playing piano and reading music.
I've also been trying to read more. Lately, I've been reading sci-fi classics like The Dispossessed, the Mars trilogy, and Childhood's End.
